The Digital Archive of Scottish Gaelic (DASG) was established in 2006 and is a recognised British Academy project in Celtic and Gaelic. The main aims of DASG are:
1. to preserve and enhance the fieldwork archive generated by the Historical Dictionary of Scottish Gaelic project, by digitising it and making it publicly available online
2. to create the first comprehensive full-text corpus of printed texts for Scottish Gaelic, Corpus na Gàidhlig, and make it publicly available on the internet
3. to provide the textual basis for the inter-university project Faclair na Gaidhlig ['Dictionary of the Scottish Gaelic Language']
4. to facilitate and stimulate research in Gaelic-related studies in a variety of disciplines, especially Gaelic semantics, lexicology and corpus linguistics but also including Social Sciences.
